EMT 207 - EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN PROCEDURES

Fundamental theory course in Basic Life Support level prehospital care. Students must achieve an overall final grade of 80% (B) or above in EMT 207, and successfully complete all four clinical shifts in EMT 207C, to be awarded a course completion certificate, which is required to take the National Registry EMT exam and become certified as an EMT.

descriptionStop by the Division office, HS 235, to pick up the EMT information packet. You will need to complete a background check, CPR card and a physical. Information on the CPR card: Students must have in their possession a valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider card on the first day of class and show it to the instructor: No other cards from any other classes or organizations will be accepted. Students must also maintain a valid AHA BLS HCP certification throughout the entire EMT course. If you do not have a valid AHA BLS HCP card on the first day, you will be dropped from the class. If you let your certification expire during the EMT course, you will be dropped from the class. Note: This is a new policy and it will be strictly enforced.
EMT 207C - EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN CLINICAL OBSERVATION
Units: 0.75
Clinical component for EMT 207 consisting of four clinical shifts: Two in an emergency department, and two on an ambulance. Successful completion of both EMT 207 and EMT 207C is required to be eligible to take the National Registry EMT examination and become certified as an EMT.
