The study of animation as a form of communication and cultural expression, from its prehistoric origins to present digital formats. Animated works will be studied in relation to the culture and society of origin including U.S., Europe, and Japan. Students will view and evaluate a large cross-section of animated works (formerly GD 155).

Learn the tools and principles of creating motion graphics, the future of graphic design in the digital age. Using After Effects software, students will create dynamic designs that combine moving images, special effects, and audio for advertising and informational uses.
