BIO 230 - COASTAL ECOSYSTEMS FIELD STUDIES
Units: 1
Study of the ecology of the coastal environments. Includes origin of estuaries, morphology and parameters of estuarine basins, estuarine shores and substrates, and flora and fauna identification. Taught in the field.

Must enroll in Coastal Field Study Bio 230 (# 11635) Bio 49 Research in Biology ( #11665) and Bio 234 Extended Island Field Studies (#11660). Approximately 25 hours of lab time will be completed in Brazil. Approximately 8 hours of lecture time will be completed over the internet upon return from Brazil. BIO 234 - EXTENDED ISLAND ECOSYSTEMS FIELD STUDIES
Units: 2
Explores the natural history and ecology of Island Ecosystems. Includes an overview of the climate, evolutionary history, biogeography, community structure, natural history, and ecology of the plants, mammals, birds and insects of islands. Students will gain an understanding of basic field study techniques.
