Introduces students to inter-relationships among plant/animal communities and the physical environments that characterize coastal marine habitats and island ecosystems. Taught primarily in the field. Limit of four courses for a total of 5 units allowed in all BIO field study courses.

This 3-day, 2-night class includes a stay in a research cabin at James San Jacinto Lodge in Idyllwild, CA; visits to typical mountain environments at various elevations; a hike along the Devil's Slide Trail, and a trip to Mt. San Jacinto in the Palm Springs aerial tramway. Trip dates are 10/13-10/15. A mandatory orientation session will be held 10/9, 7:00 - 8:00 pm in Rm B110. Course fee of $81 covering James Reserve facility fees, tramway tickets and round-trip van transportation is due at registration.
