Music: Composition and Theory Fall 2017
MUS 1 - The Basics of Music
Units: 3
A study of the basic principles and structures of music including rhythm and pitch notation, properties of the sound, counting, diatonic scales, key signatures, intervals, diatonic chords, music reading, writing, and basic sight singing. Recommended for music majors but open to all students. Credit in either MUS 1 or 1H, but not both.

MUS 3 - Harmony I
Units: 4
An intensive study of diatonic harmony in major and minor modes. Musicianship training in sight-singing and dictation is included. Required for music majors.
